Peter and Glenys Dixon established Henty Estate in 1991 when they began the planting of 4.5 ha of Shiraz, 1 ha each of Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, and 0.5 ha of Riesling.
The winery was established in 2003 and has since gone on to produce high quality wines which have received acclaim from critics.
Our philosophy is one of no compromise on quality in the vineyard and the winemaking. The vineyard is managed with one aim in mind, to produce fruit of the highest quality to enable production of wines with great regional character. We strongly adhere to the philosophy that great wines are made in the vineyard.
As of April 2018, Henty Estate has been sold to the Hilsdon family of Hamilton who have a background in the restaurant business as well as farming. They are close neighbours of Peter and Glenys who are thrilled to see a young couple, Michael and Matilda take over the running of the business. Wine making will be done to the same exacting standards, so customers can expect the same quality of wine for which Henty Estate is renown.
James Halliday rates Henty Estate a 5 star winery in his latest Australian Wine Companion.
